What is the CLSI?
The Chicano Leadership Summer Institute (CLSI) is an annual event put by the Willamette Chicano Alliance, a local Chicanx / Latinx based non – profit organization based in Portland, OR.
Every summer, we invite together college and high school students of the Portland metro area together in a space where, through workshops and dialogue, CLSI participants will explore topics surrounding identity development, college preparedness, leadership development, Chicanx / Latinx culture, history and arte.
Chicanx Art & History
Participants will learn more about their histories and selves from workshops about Latinx leaders, activists, artivists of the past, present and future.
College student volunteers will be present to share their experiences with participants about the college process, what it’s like to be in college and offer advice.
Participants will gain knowledge about developing and growing as leaders within their community through learning about the work of historical and current leaders.
